Mosaic.tech's standalone strategic-finance product has been folded into HiBob's Finance Suite, and mosaic.tech now redirects to HiBob. If you bought Mosaic as an independent, ERP/CRM-first FP&A platform, this is a vendor-neutral guide to your best alternatives — and how to migrate without losing momentum.
Disclosure: Metapraxis is an independent FP&A consulting firm and the developer of our own EPM/FP&A platform, Empower — one of the alternatives discussed below. We have no commercial relationship with Mosaic or HiBob. We consult on Abacum, Cube, Pigment, Drivetrain, Datarails and others, and we will tell you honestly when staying on HiBob's Finance Suite is the right answer for your team. Figures and product positioning are current as of mid-2026 and should be re-confirmed at the time of purchase.
Mosaic was founded in 2019 by Bijan Moallemi, Joseph Garafalo and Brian Campbell — three former Palantir finance leaders — and built one of the best-regarded "third-generation" strategic-finance platforms on the market, consistently earning top G2 ratings (historically 4.6–4.9/5) for its ease of use, 150+ pre-built SaaS metrics, and real-time ERP, CRM, HRIS and billing integrations.
In February 2025, HR-tech vendor HiBob announced its acquisition of Mosaic (reported at around $35 million). As of mid-2026, the position is clear:
This is a meaningful change of strategy, not just a logo swap. Mosaic was built as an independent finance platform that sat on top of whatever ERP, CRM and HRIS you ran. HiBob's Finance Suite is, by design, anchored to HiBob's own HCM — its central pitch is that people data from Bob powers your financial plans. For some teams that integration is a feature; for others it changes the buying logic entirely.
Why this is a "Mosaic alternatives" moment: When a beloved standalone tool is absorbed into a larger suite, two things tend to follow over time — the roadmap reorients around the parent company's priorities, and pricing/packaging gets re-bundled at renewal. Neither is necessarily bad, but both are reasons to re-evaluate now rather than discover the change at your next renewal.
HiBob has publicly stated that existing Mosaic customers will continue to be fully supported through the transition, with Mosaic's senior leadership staying on to lead HiBob's new FP&A division. If you are a current customer, you are not being switched off. But it is worth being clear-eyed about what changes:
The honest framing: if you already run HiBob for HR and like the idea of headcount and financial planning in one place, the Finance Suite may now be a stronger fit than standalone Mosaic ever was. If you bought Mosaic precisely because it was an independent, best-of-breed FP&A tool, the alternatives below deserve a serious look.
The table compares the most relevant dedicated FP&A platforms for teams leaving — or evaluating leaving — Mosaic. We have led with Empower (our own platform) and then listed the independent tools that most closely match what Mosaic users valued: fast deployment, SaaS-metric depth, and vendor-neutral integrations.
| Platform | Best for | Why it fits ex-Mosaic teams | Watch-outs | Indicative cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Empower (Metapraxis) | Mid-market £50m–£500m wanting a practitioner-built platform + consulting | Driver-based planning, vendor-neutral integrations, Build-Operate-Transfer delivery so your team fully owns the model | Less suited to very large 50+ entity consolidation; strongest paired with Metapraxis consulting | Contact for pricing |
| Abacum | SaaS and VC-backed tech finance teams | Closest spiritual successor to Mosaic — modern UX, SaaS-metric models, fast deployment, ERP/CRM/HRIS integrations | Less suited to non-SaaS / heavy-consolidation models; smaller ecosystem | £20k–£60k p.a. |
| Cube | Teams that want to keep working in Excel/Sheets | Spreadsheet-native, quick to stand up, low change-management cost; good for lean finance teams | Less of a "platform" UI than Mosaic; advanced modelling lives in the spreadsheet layer | £15k–£50k p.a. |
| Drivetrain | Teams wanting modern driver-based planning without enterprise weight | Visual driver models, broad integrations, fast time-to-value — a strong like-for-like for Mosaic's modern feel | Younger product; confirm depth on your specific consolidation needs | £20k–£70k p.a. |
| Datarails | Excel-centric finance teams wanting automation under the spreadsheet | Keeps Excel as the interface while adding consolidation, reporting and a central data layer | Excel-bound by design; less suited if you wanted to move off spreadsheets | £20k–£60k p.a. |
| Pigment | Fast-growing companies wanting flexible, visual modelling | Powerful, modern modelling environment and collaboration; scales beyond what Mosaic offered | Heavier implementation and higher cost than Mosaic; can be more than an SMB needs | £30k–£100k+ p.a. |
| HiBob Finance Suite (stay) | Existing HiBob HCM customers | The path of least disruption if you run Bob for HR and want headcount + finance in one place | Anchored to HiBob's HCM; weaker logic if you don't run — or plan to run — HiBob for HR | Bundled with HiBob |
⚠️ Caveat on the numbers: Cost ranges are indicative and vary significantly with user count, modules, data complexity, and whether implementation is handled by the vendor, a partner, or internally. Always request a detailed scope and quote before deciding. See our cost guides for Abacum, Cube, Pigment, Drivetrain and Datarails.
A platform migration is mostly a data, logic and process exercise — the software is the easy part. Before you commit to staying on HiBob or moving to an alternative, work through these:
Metapraxis advises on FP&A platform selection and migration as part of our Software Project Services and EPM consulting practice. Because we have no commercial tie to Mosaic, HiBob, or the alternatives above, our recommendation is shaped by your requirements — not by implementation revenue.
